INTEGRADED PEST MANAGEMENT

INTERGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a course that introduces learners to environmentally friendly, economical, and sustainable methods of controlling pests in agriculture and related fields. The course focuses on the identification, prevention, monitoring, and management of pests using a combination of biological, cultural, physical, and chemical control methods.
Learners study the relationships between pests, crops, the environment, and human activities in order to develop effective pest control strategies that minimize harm to people, beneficial organisms, and the environment. The course emphasizes reducing overreliance on chemical pesticides while promoting safe and sustainable agricultural practices.

CROP PRODUCTION 1

Crop Production I is an introductory course designed to equip learners with fundamental knowledge and practical skills in crop cultivation and management. The course focuses on the principles of crop production, including land preparation, soil fertility management, seed selection, planting methods, and basic crop husbandry practices.

Learners will study the factors that influence crop growth such as climate, soil, water, and pests, and how these factors can be managed to achieve optimal crop yield and quality. Emphasis is placed on sustainable agricultural practices and efficient use of resources to ensure food security and environmental conservation.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to plan and carry out basic crop production activities, apply appropriate farming techniques, identify common crop problems, and adopt improved practices for increased productivity.

This course forms a foundation for advanced studies in agronomy, horticulture, and agricultural management.
